Best Friends Can Be Soulmates, Too

An Open Letter To The Gal That’s The Sister I Never Had

Best Friends Can Be Soulmates, Too
Me myself and I

Now the news that everyone's been waiting for; Grace Fielder is way more than my best friend. She's my soul mate. Sorry to disappoint our long time fans, but Grace and I aren't romantically compatible. I just mean that we have mutually acknowledged that we are the kind of best friends that plan to stick together until we die next to each other in a nursing home.

Since the middle of middle school, the indisputably most awkward phase in any given persons life, Grace has been like a sister to me. There is no one else that understands my humor like her. We can laugh for hours about literally nothing.

From long nights working at our high school for student government, singing in choir together, and even playing lacrosse the last few years of high school, we've been together through it all.

Coming from a single parent household and being an only child, it’s been such a blessing to have grown up to find someone who is truly like a sister to me.

We had a long talk in the car a while ago, in which we discussed the true cornerstone of our friendship: our food preference comparability. Our favorite thing to do is go out to eat somewhere fancy and split an entree. (For those who haven’t yet realized it, that’s the true test of a lasting friendship.)

I guess the whole point of saying all these things, is to emphasize that I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the love of my best friend. She’s supported me through the worst times, and been the highlight of my favorite memories. Her kindness and dedication to being her best self shines in all she does, and I don’t know why Fate thought I, of all people, deserved to have someone’s so amazing as my best friend. I just know that I will never tell take it for granted.

To Grace: I love you, endlessly! I can’t wait for many more years of friendship.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
