To The Best Friends That Took Me In, You're A Blessing

I would literally be lost without my two best friends.

Making friends doesn't always seem like that big of a deal. But when it's your first day somewhere new and you know absolutely no one? That's a different story.

On the day of my college orientation, I met a girl who was amazing. We were basically the same person with some of the same likes and dislikes. It didn't take us long at all to realize that we'd end up being really good friends. Then when the semester started, I was introduced to her best friend.

These two girls did nothing except take me in and make me feel included.

They tell jokes that make me laugh and like the true hallmark of any friendship, we all tag each other in memes on Facebook. Planning on seeing the Jonas Brothers together and going out and having drinks with them have become some of my favorite memories of college so far.

Part of me feels like I've known them forever.

They have made me feel welcome and loved and appreciated. We give each other advice and talk and laugh and cry. They've seen the breakdowns during finals week and my crazy hair from when I have just rolled out of bed. We belt out throwback songs with the windows down in my car.

I will forever be thankful for these two. No matter what is going on in my life, I know that I can tell them anything.

I appreciate more than anything the fact that they never make me feel like the third wheel or the third person who's just "there." With every step and everything we do, they make me feel like I really am one of their best friends.

I am forever thankful that we were brought together at this exact moment in our lives to be together.

To my girls, the first round of drinks is on me after these finals! I love both of you infinitely.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
