Dear Best Friend Of Too Many Years To Count,
It has been weeks, if not months since we've seen each other, yet nothing has changed. I've heard the term "forever friend" thrown around , and decided instantly I already had one. Spoiler alert: it's you.
Here are 6 reasons why:
We have grown as people separately at our school of choice.
Our friend group outside of each other has changed miraculously through the years, but we always have each other. We stand tall to conquer difficulties in life without each other's presence. We see each other post about how much fun we're having at school going to sporting events and campus activities, secretly wishing each other were there to experience all of the excitement. We hide the harsh feelings we feel when we aren't the ones in the picture. Sometimes we even feel like we are losing the one we are closest to. Yet, we both know it’s a part of “adulting” and we will soon be reunited. Our friendship continues to grow even though we are apart and here’s why.
You know everything about me.
You are the one person I share every secret and feeling with. You know my favorite everything. My favorite candy, color, actor, TV show, snack and store. You’re the one who helps me pick out cute clothes that match my style and make me look like a model.
You’re honest.
No matter what I can expect the truth and nothing but the truth from you. We don’t lie to each other. If I have ketchup on my face or shirt, you’ll tell me. If I did something wrong and I don’t see why, you’ll tell me what’s wrong. Even if you don’t know the details for the current situation, you know exactly what’s going on and how to fix it. I'd do the same for you, pinky promise.
No matter what we do, it’s always better together.
I could be lying on the couch watching Friends for the billionth time with you and have the most fun of my life. We could be making the world’s worst cookies or brownies (yeah, right the batter never even makes it to the oven) and I’d still be laughing the entire time. We could drive around the littlest town in Michigan and I’d still have fun jamming to old pop songs. Even walking around the same store, you went to two nights in a row, is fun with you.
Inside jokes will make us laugh until we are six feet under.
We could laugh forever about things that have happened to us. Whether they were embarrassing or sweet, it will always be a highlight of my life. We have slipped and fell together, sung the worst versions of songs together, or mocked commercials. These are my favorite memories and the ones I will cherish forever.
Finally, you’re my rock.
You’re the one person I can count on to be there to catch me as I fall, pick me up off the floor, support me while I take new steps in my journey, or to walk next to me every other day of life.
I have never met someone so perfect to be my best friend. We have been through disagreements, low points and a million high points, I could never forget you. If I were to wish upon a star, I’d wish for everyone to have a forever friend, like the one I have.
Sincerely,
Your Forever Friend
