To The Sister I Never Had

To my best-friend-soul-mate,

Growing up was kinda rough on me as far as friends go. I always had my softball family and I always will. But I only had a handful of people who I could call friends 365 days of the year. High school was just as rough, I could never quite find the right group to fit in with, and like everyone said, high school flew by and I was off to college before I knew it. It took me a while to find you, I went through a couple roommates and a few months. But once I did end up with you, I found the sister I never had, and I couldn't imagine my two years at community college without you. Late night talks, taking care of me when I had surgery, going to the gym but complaining about it the whole time, 8:00 am lectures together, KFC runs, and family dinners all shaped who I became, and quite frankly, made my two years at community college all worth it.

Hanging out in the airport on our way to spring break in ARIZONA!

Thank you for pushing me to be my best and for always seeing the absolute best in me. You always know exactly what to say. When I had a rough day, you were the one there with pizza and ice cream. You are always on my side, and I couldn't be more thankful for that. When something good happens you are the first person I want to tell. As cheesy as it sounds, you are my other half, and I couldn't imagine life without you. You make each day a bit brighter. You always know how to make light of any situation, and you share my love for Starbucks, so what else really matters, right??

Now we live almost 500 miles apart, and some days are rough...really rough. Because at the end of the day all I want to do is come home and gossip about the day. And some days, I just want someone to laugh with me at all the bullsh*t.

No where we have been has ever been the same. We leave impressions EVERYWHERE!

But I am happy for you - truly. You are a rock star. You do hard things when no one else wants to, you are so resilient, and have big goals! But please know, I will be there 100% of the way. I will be your biggest fan when you succeed and your shoulder to cry on when times get tough. You always have a smile on your face, and when I am with you, the days seem just that much easier to manage.

Thank you for putting up with me, for supporting me, for being my better half.

Spring Training in Arizona - SO FUN!

I love you always.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
