Thank You To My Best Friend And Partner In Crime

Thank you for making me brave enough to do the things I'm afraid of.

Thank You To My Best Friend And Partner In Crime
Angela Cripps

I have always been afraid of everything.

I worry too much and I question everything before I actually go through with it. I was always too afraid to step out of my comfort zone and go places, or do things I had never done before. But I can say that I was given a friend who made me unafraid of taking chances or trying things I’ve never tried before. This person is my best friend and someone I like to call my partner in crime.

Having a best friend means that you have someone to bring out the best in you always. It also means that you have someone to tell you how it is when you need it. You always have a person to edit the text messages that you’re afraid to send to someone, before you send them. You always have someone to call, even if it is just to say that you binged on another season of your favorite show on Netflix or simply because you want to hear their voice. But most importantly, having a best friend means you have someone who is with you in every crazy situation you get yourself into.

If you are anything like me, you are the type of person who is nerdy, and goofy, and awkward, and all of these traits are what gets you into crazy situations. If you are a fan of the show Friends, think of the character Monica and that pretty much sums me up. But thankfully, having a best friend who is not as weird as you are (to the public eye) balances out your weirdness.

So, to my best friend and my PIC, thank you. Thank you for laughing at every extremely lame joke I make, and for pointing out how very lame they are. Thank you for dealing with my crazy quirks like packing 50 bags for one overnight trip somewhere, or dealing with me always being late to everything, because I wait to get ready until five minutes before we need to leave. Thank you for being blunt and telling me exactly what I need to hear, when I don’t want to hear it. Thank you for calling me out when I just want to sit at home and sleep and for verbally dragging me out of my house.

Most importantly, thank you for making me brave enough to do the things I’m afraid of doing, even if I have no reason to be afraid. Thank you for being the only person I love going on road trips with because although I hate being in cars, you make it fun. Thank you for making me feel slightly less embarrassed for making videos of us singing songs and posting them on the internet to publicly humiliate ourselves, and to be okay with it. Thank you for dragging me to all the places I was too anxious to go to and just telling me over and over that it will be fun because it always was.

Having you as a best friend has helped me be who I want and need to be. So, thank you for being the best PIC ever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
