There are people in your life who understand you without you saying a word.

My best friend and I don't have superpowers, we're just around each other enough to be able to know exactly what the other one is thinking based on their facial reactions or tone in the voice. Really, these are the kind of people you need in your life. Sometimes it's nice to be understood without having to continuously explain yourself.

Here are 10 things my best friend just knows without me having to say anything about it. (and vice versa)

1. When I'm Mad, Irritated, Or Sad.

This can probably be determined by more than just my best-friend. I'm not the greatest person to be around when I'm in a bad mood.

2. When I Need To Take A Nap

She can tell when I need a nap, but I can REALLY tell when she needs a nap, It's not a fun time to be around her... I bet I'm not the only witness, either.

3. When I'm On My Period

This more or less means she can tell when I'm in dire need of a sundae from McDonald's (with extra hot fudge and caramel).

4. When I Think Something Is A Bad Idea

She can tell by my facial expressions that I'm warning her to be wise about her choices and that I don't necessarily want to be a part of it. (Don’t worry, I’m not talking about anything illegal. It’s usually whether she should hang out with a boy, get Taco Bell for the 3rd time today, or go out with friends and do her homework later.

5. When I Don't Actually Agree With Her That A Boy Is Cute

Lol, she just knows.

6. When I'm Stressed Out

Although she can tell, I feel like everyone can tell when I'm stressed out. Thanks to the friendly bumps that hitch a ride on my face for a few days.

7. When I Think Somebody Or Something Is Gross

There have been a few times I’m talking on the phone, or having a conversation with somebody next to me and somebody we’re with goes to take a sip of my drink without me noticing… but she lets them know that’s not a good idea. Thank GOD for that.

8. When I’m Going To Find Something Hilarious

She knows ahead of time whether that video somebody is about to show me is going to make me laugh, or If I’m going to have to fake it so things don’t get awkward.

9. When I Am Confused

Even if I don’t say anything, she “can just tell” she says.

10. When I’m Yelling At Her In My Mind

It happens more often than you think. Sometimes when she talks she just knows I’m yelling at her in my mind, and she probably knows how harsh I’m yelling at her, too.

But most often, we can tell when one needs the other, and that’s the best “mind-reading” superpower that we DO have.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
