Dear Kelly,
Less than a year ago, I added you on Facebook. That was probably one of the best decisions I made my freshman year of college. We had never talked in person, but we lived in the same dorm. We kind of became social media besties before we even became real life friends, we liked and commented on each others' posts all the time. Eventually, I decided to message you and just give you my number. Your response to my message is still probably my favorite Kelly quote, "I'm down for friendship any day of the week!".
In the, almost, year that we have been friends we have grown so much as people and as friends. We aren't even the same people we were a year ago, but we managed to stick together, and I think that is pretty cool. I am thankful for you and all of the time you are willing to spend listening to me, whether I am talking about happy things or having a total breakdown. I don't think I would be the person I am this year without you by my side.
So many fun things have happened in our friendship, and I hold all of those things very close to my heart. Remember that tornado warning? You literally called me and had me come downstairs so we could sit next to each other in the hallway. We didn't even fear death, we just ate Reese's Puffs until it was over. Or us buying matching Christmas sweaters, even though those matching sweaters make us look like a lesbian couple. I have never had a friend that wanted to wear matching clothing, so that was something I thought was super cool. On my 20th birthday, you went to buy me handcuffs but actually bought me handcuff bracelets. That was the highlight of my week and I still laugh when I think about it.
You have helped me through so much recently, and I can only hope that I have helped you through some of the hardships that you have faced recently. You are by far the best person I have met in college, and definitely the most influential. Your opinions matter so much to me and I always look forward to hearing you say "#proudfriend", when you think I am doing something good for myself.
I am overly excited about being your suitemate next school year. We are going to have so much fun together and it will be so nice not living across campus from you. Then we can have late night talks whenever and it won't be a problem. Thank you for being my support system, for all the kind words you say to me when I feel like I am nothing, for giving me relationship advice, and then being there for me when it ended. Thank you for always wishing good things for me and always being the first one to text and congratulate me on little things. You mean a lot to me, and I hope that I have made that known.
I love you!
Love always,
Lexxie
