Dear Best Friend,
Thank you.
We met over four years ago in our high school’s crowded cafeteria and if my friends hadn’t introduced us that one day at lunch my life would never have been the same. Even though you are a year younger than me, you always watch out for me like an older brother. You told me when you thought I was making good decisions and helped me out when you thought I was wrong. You took me to all my school dances from homecoming to prom, and my friends and I had a great time with you there.
You went shopping with me even when you didn’t want to and I let you drag me to watch the Stanley Cup Championships, where our team won. You were there to watch me cross the stage at graduation and you were one of the people who helped me make it there. You watched me get ready to leave Pittsburgh and move to college, and while we knew we’d miss each other, we knew that when I came home, our friendship would still be the same. You encouraged me and always told me how much you believed in me.
This year it was my turn to watch you grow up and move on to bigger and better things. You had wanted to come to Kent but it hadn’t worked out so you stayed closer to home. It didn’t feel much different than the year before, but you were busier and more stressed.
Luckily, you still found the time to text me back and to let me know how you were doing. School was hard, for the both of us, but talking to you made me feel like I was in the right place doing the right thing. We have been laughing, crying, and dancing together for the past four years and I wouldn’t have asked for anything else.
Thank you.
