I still care about you.

Let me start by introducing the girl I once called my best friend. Her older sister and my older sister were best friends also, they decided one day that it was a great plan to introduce the little sisters. That meeting resulted in being best friends just like our older sisters were. Her and I both were in concert band and then marching band together. She is a year younger than me but when we were in high school it didn't matter, it still doesn't matter.

To the Best Friend I Left in High School:

We always said we would keep in touch after I graduated and moved away to college but we both know how that turned out for us. It was a collaborative effort in losing touch, you didn't try and I know I didn't really either. I always had the thought that if you wanted to keep in touch then you would call, text, or Facebook me but that never happened. I know the phone works both ways and I could have done the same but I didn't see a point if you weren't going to try either.

I haven't forgotten about you at all. I have seen all your post on Facebook and have "liked" them or "commented" on them so you knew I still cared. Even now I'm 100% sure you still care like I do. I told you before I graduated that I would care still and always wish you the best in the hopes that you would do the same. Now I'm close to graduating college five years after high school graduation and you and I have spoken to each other maybe twice.

I honestly don't know why neither of us kept in touch after graduation. Throughout high school we were best friends, you knew quite a lot about me and I knew quite a lot about you, now it's like we're strangers again. We even came up with some weird nicknames for each other (moose and goose); I have no idea where they even came from, they just appeared one day. I still have the stuffed turtle I got from you one day after spending the night you didn't want him and I fell in love with him. His name is still Carl and yes I still do sleep with him.

I see you're engaged and I wish you nothing more than the best with that. Your fiancé is a lucky man because I know you are an incredible young lady and will do amazing things. Let's be honest he's going to have his hands full with you! I mean that in the best way possible!

Good Luck with everything you wish to do in life!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
