Dear bestie gal,

To say, “thank you,” wouldn’t be enough but I suppose it’s a good place to start. There should be more words in the English language for these very reasons, to express the love and gratitude you have for someone – there simply aren’t enough. However, you deserve all the efforts in the world so here I go...

Thank You For Always Showing Up

All I’ve ever wanted in life is for someone to show up for me, and that can mean many things to different people. The beauty in our friendship is that I have never had to explain that to you – you’ve always been there.

It’s your consistency, your intentionality, the attentive way you listen, the understanding in your responses, the thoughtful ways you pay attention to details, the safe space you create to allow me to be myself and bring my mess – they’re all your ways of telling me you love me.

I’ll throw my ideas out to you and without fail your response is, “I’m down,” the three words I’ve heard you say the most in our years of friendship are, “How are you?” You’ve been there through my successes, my enormous failures, my rises, and my falls. You were there through some of my biggest life battles – you loved me through my addiction, through my selfishness, through my intense anxiety and most importantly, through my hangry moments.

You show up. I never question if you’ll be there – there’s never any doubt, worry or fear with you. You are truly one of the few people who I can say that about in my life. It’s something I’ve always craved to have, and here you are. How lucky am I?

Thank You For Being Authentically You

You are the physical definition of 'dance like no one is watching' and that is one of my favorite things about you.

When you enter the room, everyone knows it because your energy is contagious, and your light draws people in. You define and embrace your strengths, you wear your confidence as your best outfit and wherever we go, you find the dance floor. You speak your mind and share embarrassing stories to make people laugh which makes you all the more real. You wear your heart on your sleeve and you welcome others to join you in that.

There's more than just the rockstar dance moves and infectious laugh -- you also don't take things personally, and accept that you can't please everyone. You've mastered the art of saying 'no' when necessary and setting your boundaries. You trust yourself and your intuition, you never settle and you go the extra mile for everything. You follow your heart and chase the life you want, and you don't let fear or the stupid opinions of other's get in your way.

We pride ourselves on how real our friendship is, that's all because of you. Not only do you inspire me to live and view life the way you do, but also, being with you is like walking into a room where I can lay down my armor. I can come in as I am because you want nothing more than that. You make me feel safe and at home. You're one-of-a-kind and you should never stop dancing, cause those moves are stellar.

Thank You For Supporting Me

You and I both know, I do some whacky and dumb shit sometimes. I let my heart take the lead on pretty much every decision, I run and jump before even looking to what I'm landing on, I let my anxiety drive while I chill in the passenger seat and my mouth can get the best of me. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong, but without fail, every trial and tribulation, you're right there with me. You look at me and say either, "It's okay, we'll get through it," or, "I'm so proud of you!" You've never waivered.

With you, I've realized a true friend accepts who you are, but also helps you become who you should be. You've never asked me to be something I'm not, and even when I was going through my most challenging season, you never pushed me. You rode that long, painful ride with me and would look at me with confidence because you knew, when I was ready, I would choose strength over desire.

You're one of my greatest cheerleaders, and whether it's a 'whoops' or a 'yay' I know that you're here to stay, ready with your pom-pom's, and margarita in hand.

Thank You For Being More Than My Best Friend

How blessed am I that I have a best friend who doubled as my sister? A two for one deal -- you know I am an expert shopper.

You aren't just my best friend, you're my sister. You're one of the few people who truly gets me, because you've taken the time to not only get to know me but to understand me, which is so rare to have these days. You're so fiercely loyal, you're my biggest ally, my shoulder to cry on, who I laugh the hardest with and who brings out the best in me.

We've been there for each other as we've gone through a lot as individuals, but also in our own relationship. One of the best things about us? We always move on and come back stronger. We can grow separately while never growing apart.

Bestie gal, I cherish you like no one else in this world. No one makes me laugh as hard as you do, and because of you, my life is so much brighter and more joyful. One of my favorite things about our friendship is the fact that we choose each other, and it's the easiest choice I've ever made. Thank you for allowing me to choose you and thank you for choosing me.

Sincerely,

Your sassy, redheaded sister from another mister

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
