Best Foundations for Oily Skin

Living in a desert can be unforgiving on the skin yet, oddly enough, I have an oily face. Thanks to genetics I get to wake up each morning with an extra shiny face! Before I go over the foundations that I have tried and absolutely love for my skin, I want to share a few tips:

1. Wash your pillow case as often as possible. I wash mine every two days, think I am crazy? Each night you rub your face on your pillow and the grease and oils build up, constantly touching your face and creating huge problems! (Acne for me!)

2. Wash your face, even on days you don't wear makeup. I love lazy days, especially when I don't put on makeup. But, I still wash my face! Like I mentioned about the pillow, your face has all of that trapped and you need to wash it off daily!

3. Find a face wash that is good for oily skin. With thousands of face washes out there, it can be hard to choose one that is best for oily skin. Make sure to do some research, because the wrong face wash can lead to even more oil depositing on your face! (Yikes!!)

Now, here are my top three foundations that I have used for oily skin! And the best part is, you can find them at any drug-store, Walmart or Target for a great price!

1. L'oreal Paris 24 hour Infallible Pro Matte

I have been recently obsessed with this one and it has become my daily "go-to." For a medium coverage foundation, it wears more like a high coverage, but it is super light on the face. I can go the whole day without having to re-powder my face due to oil seeping through.

2. Maybelline New York Fit Me! Shine-Free+ Balance Foundation (Combination Skin)

I love stick foundations and this is the best one I have tried to date! The undertone on their lightest shade (110 Porcelain) has a very light pink undertone, which is perfect for my skin. It is a lighter coverage so I reccomend using concealer as well. Like the other foundation, I have not noticed any shine breaking through after a long day of wear!

3. Revlon Colorstay 24 Hour Foundation (Normal to Dry Skin)

Dry skin! I actually did not notice that this one said "dry-skin" on it. But magically enough, this one works! It is extremely full coverage. It takes a few makeup wipes to get this stuff off, but my skin stayed matte, and I did not have much oil come through!

Those are my top three foundations for oily skin! What have you tried and loved?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
