The Best Five Songs to Add to your Road Trip Playlist

Going to school in Pennsylvania but being from Massachusetts means I do a lot of driving when I have to go home for breaks… six hours (one-way) to be exact. So you could say I have a pretty good road trip playlist. I mean how else am I supposed to pass the time besides blasting music extremely loud so I can’t hear how poorly I’m singing? So here are five song additions that you want to add to your road trip playlist today to help make long car rides even more enjoyable.

1. Ain’t No Man - The Avett Brothers

This is totally one of those songs that I heard on the radio, loved, but could never find again. But recently I rediscovered it on Spotify and immediately added to my road trip playlist! For me this song is such a jam. Once you start bobbing your head to the beat of the drums and clapping in the background you immediately stop thinking about how many hours you have to spend in the car and just start having a good time.

2. Wherever I Go - OneRepublic

OneRepublic is definitely one of my top favorite bands so naturally I have all their songs in my road trip playlist but this one really takes the cake. The fact that this song gradually gets more and more upbeat as it goes on makes for great driving music. You just start to get into the flow of the song and next thing you know your exit off the highway will be therefore you know it.

3. R U Mine? - Arctic Monkey

The lyrics “here isn’t where I want to be” really hits the mark especially when you are stuck in traffic. This upbeat song is a really good switch up from a lot of the current songs being played on the radio, with its electric guitar and hardcore drumming. You can jam to this song at anytime during a multiple hour long road trip. But like I said above this song really comes in handy when you need to take your mind off traffic.

4. Drops of Jupiter - Train

You also need to make sure you have soulful sing-your-heart-out music in your playlist and that is where this song comes in. Now maybe you are the type of person that can listen to the same types of songs hours and hours on end but I am not and definitely need some variety in my playlist. Drops of Jupiter can just bring out all of the feels and adds the perfect variety to any playlist. So you can blast this song and sing to your heart’s content all the way down the highway.

And last but certainly not least...

5. Ride - Twenty One Pilots

This is my ultimate driving song! I can never put my finger on why I like driving to this song so much but for some reason it just fits driving fast down long stretches of highway. Whenever I need a pick me up from driving on long stretches of highway I always put this song on because not only does it help make the time go by faster, it also never fails to put me in a good mood!

Happy driving!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
