Best Dressed Women At The Oscars

Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation!

The Oscars were tame.

Just kidding it was actually pretty crazy. At least the last 10 minutes of it were, anyway.

Like anyone else, I love looking at all the gowns the women wear during the ceremony. It’s interesting to see how they dress based on what they are doing there. Are they presenting? Supporting a spouse? Nominated?

These are my personal top five best-dressed women at the Oscars. I didn’t include the men because there wasn’t anything special about what they wore. It’s the same thing we see award show after award show. Though, if you’re twisting my arm, I think Aldis Hodge, Riz Ahmed, and Marhershala Ali looked very handsome.

Back to the ladies! Here they are!

5. Ruth Negga

Harper's Bazaar

I’m really into the red hair piece in Ruth Negga’s hair that matches her hair. She looks like the sweetest princess. I love the lace detailing on the collar of her dress and how it matches the lace throughout it. I just think she looks so elegant with this pop of color.

4. Isabelle Huppert

The Telegraph

Isabelle Huppert was the first person I saw when I flipped on to the Oscars and I immediately loved her look. It was romantic and soft. Very feminine and glittery. She just looked so graceful. Blush pink is one of my favorite hues as of right now.

3. Janelle Monae

Tom + Lorenzo

Janelle Monae was the other princess at the awards tonight. She gave me Cinderella vibes with her bigger than life dress. And again, I’m living for her hair piece. I think these are going to become big this wedding and prom season. It’s such an easy way to up the hair game. I really love it against her short hair.

2. Olivia Hamilton

E! Online

We kept seeing Olivia Hamilton’s dress whenever they flashed to her husband, who is the director of La La Land. Every time I saw her, I feel more and more in love with her neckline. I love that high neckline. And that muted lilac shade? SO PRETTY. How does she make a color usually reserved for Easter and bridesmaid dresses so fashionable?! I want to wear this dress to brunch and any event thereafter.

1. Taraji P. Henson

Hollywood Life

Taraji killed it. That’s it. She is my best dressed. There was no contest. She looks so glam, so fierce. When I think of Hollywood, I think of this. Off the shoulder, blingy jewelry and just being glamorous. Hollywood royalty at it’s finest.

Honorable mentions go to….

Brie Larson

Oscars

I loved the shape of her dress, especially the top. I just wish she has more volume in her hair and some jewelry. Her neckline is crying out for a nice necklace. (She should look toward Taraji.) And I really wish she had different shoes. But I love the dress so much. Bravo Zac Posen!

Karlie Kloss

Daily Mail

I love the one sided cape dress. I love the neckline partnered with that choker. I have a love/hate relationship with where she placed her ACLU ribbon. It’s different from where everyone else put their ribbons on the carpet but also reminds me of middle school days. Remember when all the cool girls would put name tags on the bottom of their shirts.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
