The Best Donut Shops In The Lone Star State

Nothing says “Good morning,” better than a warm donut… or two… or five. Whether you’re an occasional donut eater, or if you’re a donut connoisseur like me, these places are a must-go.

Voodoo Doughnuts -- 212 E 6th Street Austin, Texas

A donut shop that's open 24 hours? Count me in. Voodoo Doughnut Shop is conveniently located on 6th street in Austin. So after a late night bar crawl, you can grab yourself a warm, delicious doughnut, covered in cereal, candy, or even bacon. With over fifty different donuts to choose from, this is a stop every donut lover must make.

The Grove Do-Nutz & Deli -- 815 Plantation Dr Ste 300 Richmond, TX 77406

You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a minion donut and that’s pretty much the same thing. At the Grove Do-Nutz & Deli you can! In a town not far from Houston, you can feast on not only a minion-faced Twinkie stuffed in the center of a donut, but also a pizza donut, a rainbow donut, and even a Texas sized donut. This place is a must-try.

Gourdough's -- 1503 S 1st St., Austin, TX 78704

Whoever invented a donut truck is my new best friend. What better way to explore Austin than stopping for a quick donut on your way? From options like the "Rattlesnake" with Oreos, fudge icing, and a gummy rattlesnake -- to the "Mother Clucker" with a fried chicken strip covered in honey butter -- there are mouth watering options for everyone at Gourdough's. Even the picky eater, (you know who you are) can customize their donut by choosing their icing, filling, and toppings. I know where I’m stopping next time I’m in Austin.

Jarams Donuts -- 17459 Preston Rd Dallas, TX 75252

OK, but what’s a better way to say “Happy Birthday” than a donut? At Jarams, not only do they personalize any donut, but they also have some pretty darn cute ones that are almost too cute to eat -- almost. With fan favorites being the "Crème Brulee" donut, and their festive seasonal donuts, this place is sure to brighten your morning.

Kai’s doughnut Co. -- 4201 Wellborn Road Bryan, TX 77801

Every Texas Aggie, or Blinn Buccaneer, in town knows Kai's doughnut's is where you get your donut grub on. From their adorable Cookie Monster donuts, to their Nutella filled donut holes, every customer leaves with a full stomach ready to take on finals or their next Netflix binge. Whether you live in College Station, or are visiting, this place should be your hangover fix.

River Oaks Donuts -- 3601 Westheimer Rd Houston, TX 77027

Can’t decide between cereal or donuts in the morning? Why not have both? At River Oaks Donuts, each customer can get their favorite cereal on top of their favorite kind of donut. I'll take a trip to Houston for a fruit loop donut any day, y’all.

Round Rock Donuts -- 106 W Liberty Round Rock, TX 78664

Round Rock Donuts definitely fits the motto “everything is bigger in Texas” with its Texas sized glazed donuts. This shop offers traditional donuts and kolaches as well. Next time you’re in the area, stop at Round Rock donuts, and bring your appetite.

Christy’s Donuts -- 1103 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019

While Christy's Donuts doesn’t have the extravagant toppings, this place does provide good ol’ fashioned donuts that we all know and love -- along with prices that you will love as well. This independently owned shop also has the sweetest workers. Next time you’re visiting Houston, stop in -- who doesn’t love nice people and donuts?

Hypnotic Donuts -- W Hickory St Denton, TX 76201

If you live North of Dallas, then you know and love Hypnotic Donuts. With flavors like "Expresso Yo Self," a chocolate cake donut made with coffee icing, salted caramel, and fresh ground coffee -- to winning the best glazed donut in Dallas (according to D Magazine) -- you’re sure to be a “hyppie” after trying these amazing donuts.

Krispy Kreme Locations Throughout Texas

I know, I know, it’s totally #mainstream, but a place serving up hot, fresh, donuts that are crave worthy is always a top pick in my book, y’all. Krispy Kreme's glazed donuts are to die for. They give you a free paper hat, and if they have a long line, they usually will hand you some free donuts while you wait. Hey, if ya got donuts and are handing out free stuff, I’m there.

The Original Donut Shop & Tacos -- 3307 Fredericksburg Road San Antonio, Texas, 78201

A place with amazing donuts, and the area’s best breakfast tacos? It must be heaven, right? Close! It’s the Original Donut Shop & Tacos! Whether you want a mouth watering donut, an awesome breakfast taco, or both, you won’t be disappointed!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
