Yes, My Dog is My best Friend

Who knew one could love something with four legs and a tail so much.

Best friends are great. They're always there for you whether it be to give their opinion on an outfit or help you when you're crying over the same person for the fifth time. Best friends are kind of like the family we never asked for, but the ones we'll always be thankful for. For a lot of people, their best friend is some one they went to school with or maybe a cousin, who knows. Well for me... my best friend is my dog.

Obviously dogs can't talk. They can't compliment your new hair cut, make sarcastic jokes with you, help you pick out an outfit for a date, tell you everything will be okay, and.. well I think you get the point. Even though they can't do that, they're still capable of so much more.

The thing that really gets me is how happy they get when they see us. It doesn't matter if I've been gone for five minutes, five hours, five days, months, etc. he's always there waiting by the door the moment he sees my car pull in to the driveway. Opening the door, I'm always attacked with a plethora of love and doggie kisses to last a life time. It just warms my heart seeing how happy he gets just to see me again.

Dogs have a way of sensing when things aren't okay and if science can't prove it, I will. Whenever I'm sad my normally crazy and rambunctious puppy (I don't care how old he is, he will always be my puppy) completely changes himself to comfort me. Instead of jumping on me and attacking me with kisses, he just quietly lays himself next to me and looks at me, almost as if he's checking to make sure that I'm okay. And when I'm happy, I can tell that he's happy for me.

There's just something about dogs that make them the best best friends. I like to think that they think of us as their best friends too, but who knows what they're actually thinking about. Our dogs are only there for part of our life... but for our dogs—we're their entire life.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
