The Best Pixar Shorts

Before "Toy Story" and other full-length computer animated films, came Pixar shorts. These timeless shorts engender feelings of nostalgia and happiness in even some of their oldest viewers. In mere 5-minute films without dialogue, Pixar shorts tell some of the most magical, comical, and heartwarming tales. All of Pixar's shorts are beautifully unique and entertaining, but a few stand out as truly inspiring and ingenious.

1. "Geri's Game"

"Geri's Game" was attached to the theatrical release of "A Bug's Life" in 1998. It is a heart-warming story of an elderly man who plays chess in the park against himself by assuming two very different personas.

2. "Luxo Jr."

"Luxo Jr". is nothing more than two lamps playing with a ball, but it is the quintessential Pixar short, complete with the infamous Pixar lamp named Luxo Jr. who is now the mascot for Pixar Animation Studios and the iconic blue, yellow, and red Pixar star ball that is found in several Pixar films.

3. "La Luna"

"La Luna" is about a young boy who goes out to sea with his father and his grandfather and learns that their job is to sweep fallen stars off the moon.

4. "One Man Band"

"One Man Band" was shown with the theatrical release of "Cars" in 2006. It tells the comical story of two street performing musicians who compete for a little girl's gold coin in a deserted village. The little girl, however, unveils her musical abilities and is surprisingly the one who receives the largest reward.

5. "Partly Cloudy"

"Partly Cloudy" was shown with the theatrical release of "Up" in 2009. It is about clouds that create things, such as adorable babies and cuddly puppies, that are delivered to parents on the ground by birds. One cloud, however, has the task of making animals that are cute but not very friendly. These deliveries tend to harm the poor bird that has the task of delivering them, but the bird never gives up.

6. "Lifted"

"Lifted" was attached to the theatrical release of "Ratatouille" in 2007. It is the hilarious story of a young alien who struggles to find the right buttons in order to abduct a sleeping human.

7. "For the Birds"

"For the Birds" was shown with the theatrical release of "Monsters Inc." in 2001. It is about a large, gawky bird who tries to befriend a clan of smaller, cooler birds who reject his bids for companionship. In a strange twist of fate, the large bird inadvertently proves that being mean doesn't always make you cool.

8. "Boundin'"

"Boundin'" was shown with the theatrical release of "The Incredibles" in 2003. It tells the lovely story of a beautiful sheep that gets its coat shaved and consequently views himself as ugly and inadequate. He then meets a bounding bunny who tells him that even when life gets you down, you just have to keep boundin'.

9. "Presto"

"Presto" was shown with the theatrical release of "WALL-E" in 2008. It tells the story of a magician who struggles to perform with an uncooperative rabbit.

10. "Tin Toy"

"Tin Toy" was released in 1988, seven years before Disney released "Toy Story" and famously made toys come to life. It is about a small toy drummer who initially tries to escape from a destructive baby but then craves the baby's attention after it becomes more amused with a cardboard box.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
