The Best Alternative Concerts Coming To Cleveland in November
Beth Casteel

A new month means a new list of concerts coming through Cleveland, and it doesn't look as though November is going to disappoint!

Whether you'll be celebrating the 15th anniversary of Silverstein's beloved album, "When Broken Is Easily Fixed," or you just want to hang with God's favorite boy band, Waterparks, there's got to be a concert on this list that is for you.

Check out the best shows coming to Cleveland this November!

1. Mahalls

11/7

Mom Jeans, Just Friends, Awakebutstillinbed, Retirement Party

11/10

All Get Out, Homesafe, Household, Sunsleeper, Elbow Room

11/14

Assuming We Survive, Riot Child, Dose, Morning In May, Complexions

Author's pick: Mom Jeans on 11/7. This band is still up-and-coming, but you'll want to jump on the bandwagon as soon as possible! They've got some pretty amazing tracks in their catalog that is perfect for Mahall's vintage little venue.

2. House Of Blues

11/6

Young The Giant, LIGHTS

11/11

Silverstein, Hawthrone Heights, As Cities Burn, and Capstan.

11/23

3OH3, Emo Nite, Lil Aaron

Author's pick: Silverstein's anniversary show on 11/11. Not only is this tour celebrating one of the band's best albums, it's also bringing As Cities Burn back from the dead. You seriously won't want to miss this show.

3. The Grog Shop

11/3

Justin Courtney Pierre, Pronoun, Van Dale

11/6

Deafheaven, DIIV, Chasity

11/7

Saves The Day, Kevin Devine, An Horse

11/11

Cute Is What We Aim For, Makeout Kids, Minshara, Brightside

Author's Pick: Justin Pierre's show on 11/3! Justin has shown that he doesn't need Motion City Soundtrack backing him to bring out some serious tunes, and this show is perfect to celebrate his lengthy career...solo. But I so wouldn't mind seeing an MCS reunion...uhm, please?!

4. The Agora

11/1

Circa Survive, La Dispute, Queen Of Jeans

11/3

Mayday Parade, This Wild Life, William Ryan Key, Oh, Weatherly

11/11

The Story So Far, Turnover, Citizen, Movements

11/15

Waterparks, I Don't Know How But They Found Me, Nick Gray, Super Whatevr, Dewayne Jackson

11/28

Killswitch Engage, Born Of Osiris, Crowbar, Death Ray Vision

Author's pick: Okay. This tour is the literal definition of perfection, no really! Each band on the bill is amazing and you won't want to miss The Story So Far's return to the stage, especially after they released one of the best alt/punk records of the year, "Proper Dose."

5. The Foundry

11/3

Waaves

11/9

Antarctigo Vespucci

11/15

Silent Planet, Stray From The Path, Kublai Khan, Greyhaven

Author's Pick: Silent Planet co-headlining with Stray From The Path?! I'm shook. This tour is going to be so intense and you'll want to make sure your elbows are ready to mosh.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
