If you know one thing about college, it’s that college football game day is no joking matter. As soon as you get accepted into college, you automatically become a die-hard fan of your sports teams, no questions asked.

Whether your team is good or not, you are there at the games cheering them on. It’s no secret that every game day is a hectic one. There are so many aspects that go into making a game day a great one.

For college girls, game day attire begins about two to three days before the game.

Now you’re probably wondering why. Well, the game day outfit, of course! For girls, the best way for us to show our school spirit is to dress as cute as we can, repping our school colors anyway we can, in a fashionable way of course! Our minds are constantly assessing our closets, trying to figure out what school colors we own and which combination of tops, bottoms, and shoes work best together. We raid our roommate’s closets for possible options; we make last minute trips to the mall or online shop and fast-track our shipping just so we can have the perfect game day outfit.

So what are some tips for choosing the best game day outfit? Here is a list of things to be conscious of while preparing for game day.

1. Know the time of the game:

If your school's football game is an afternoon one, maybe don’t wear that long sleeve crop top and a pair of jeans; you will sweat a lot.

2. Assess the weather for the day:

If it’s going to be a hot sunny day, maybe try wearing a skirt and tank top or a lightweight dress. Nothing is more miserable than being a sweaty uncomfortable mess at a tailgate.

3. Shoe choice is important:

I cannot stress this enough! Wear comfortable shoes. You may think wearing that new pair of wedges to a three-hour tailgate and three-hour game is a good idea but it’s not. Wear a cute pair of flats or a reliable pair of boots that won’t cause any pain or blisters.

4. Don’t be an outfit repeater:

From the wise words of Regina George herself, don’t outfit repeat! Well… at least not on back-to-back game day weekends. If you are really feeling yourself in a specific outfit, stow it away for a few games then bring it out again! If that still feels too risky, take an article of clothing from that outfit and add a new twist to it. Innovation is key to fashion!

5. Snap some photos:

This may not need any preparation but it’s always on the checklist for a successful game day. Once game day has arrived and you are looking fabulous, don’t forget to snap some pictures. Show off the outfit success you had!
