Don't worry, they're not all pizza!

The best restaurants to try in Chicago, for the brand new tourist and the seasoned traveler looking for a more unique taste.

1. Lou Malnati's

Almost everyone wants to indulge in this cheesy-goodness!commons.wikimedia.org

Chicago is best known for its pizza, but no one tops Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza. Their deep dish is super thick and has a taste of its own. Elite to their competition with their buttered crust options and layers of fresh mozzarella cheese, you sure can't miss this one!

2. Gene and Jude's Hot Dogs

Gene and Jude's has remained in the same small building for decades!commons.wikimedia.org

Around since 1946, Gene and Jude's has been voted America's #1 Hot Dog. They are busy day and night in their original building with a motto of "No Seats, No Ketchup, No Pretense, No Nonsense." As you order, you get to watch everything made fresh one by one. They serve their dogs and fries fresh to order and together! Don't ask for ketchup, though - they'll frown at you.

3. Rosebud Italian Ristorante

There are many Rosebud locations throughout the Chicagoland area and suburbs, each with a delicious menu.commons.wikimedia.org

For decades, Rosebud has topped the charts for classic Italian food. Their menu consists of a wide variety of Italian classics, from chicken parmesan to rigatoni alla vodka and everything in between. Their restaurants are designed for elegant dining and filled with the most outgoing staff. You can expect leftovers and a full stomach by the time the check comes.

4. Johnnie's Beef

Its almost impossible to resist Johnnie's fresh hotdogs.en.m.wikipedia.org

A classic from the suburbs, Johnnie's Beef is well known for their Italian beef and sausages. To get the full experience, you have to order a combo beef and sausage sandwich with a side of fries and an Italian ice. Although it's a very wet sandwich, it is one of the best Italian beef sandwiches in the Chicagoland area.

5. Portillo's

The inside of Portillo's gives you the feeling you're back in the simpler times.commons.wikimedia.org

All Chicagoans know the hype around Portillo's and how busy their lines are at all times of the day. From Italian beef to hot dogs, cheese fries to burgers, Portillo's is unique in its taste. My go-to recommendation is the cake shake with a side of cheese fries. The golden gooeyness of their cheese sauce is like no other and my greatest suggestion of all things to try.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
