Fall is the perfect time to go out an explore nature because the weather is cooling down and it feels great to get out and explore! I happen to love caves and like to visit any cave that I can get to-- no matter where. Here is a list I compiled of ten of the best caves in the state of Alabama. I found a lot of my information from this website which also is great for exploring all different areas in your state at the click of a button.
1. Rattlesnake Saloon Cave-- Tuscumbia, AL
I have had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant/cave and I love it. If you ever get the chance, I suggest going!
2. Sauta Cave-- Scottsboro, AL
On summer nights, some 300,000 grey bats emerge from the cave-- as you can see pictured above.
3. Stephens Gap-- Woodville, AL
Simply incredible.
4. Tumbling Rock Cave-- Scottsboro, AL
This cave happens to be over six miles long!
5. Manitou Cave-- Fort Payne, AL
6. Russell Cave National Monument-- Bridgeport, AL
This cave happens to be the third longest mapped cave in Alabama.
7. Rickwood Caverns-- Warrior, AL
8. Desoto Caverns-- Childersburg, AL
This is my personal favorite because I went to this cave many times as a little kid. I think it is absolutely stunning.
9. Neversink Cave Preserve-- Jackson County, AL
This photo just shows how MASSIVE this cave is. Gorgeous.
10. Cathedral Caverns-- Grant, AL
Another one of my favorites because of how massive the opening to enter is. Once you get inside your tour guide turns off all the lights and shows you just how pitch black the inside of a cave is. Truly mesmerizing.
