WHYTOREAD

1. James Patterson, "Sunday at Tiffany's"

"Sunday at Tiffany’s" is about a young girl named Jane Margaux who lives her life with an imaginary friend and ends up with an unexpected love. I personally love this book; I smiled the whole time I read it. I was sad when it was finished. However, a few years after I read the book, I found out they made a movie. Great movie, however, I do think that the book is way better. If you are looking for a great book to read in the morning with your coffee, this is the book for you.

2. James Patterson, "Alex Cross" series

The "Alex Cross" series is a series about a detective that gets himself in some sticky situations. He has been through a lot in his job and has saved many lives over his lifetime. The "Alex Cross" series has to be one of the best series I have read, hands down! Every time I would pick up a book from the series, I could not put it down. These books always had me on my toes and I look forward to every page.

3. Nicholas Sparks, "The Best Of Me"

The "Best of Me" is a beautiful love story of a high school couple that went were head over heels for each other. The unexpected happened and ended their relationship. Years later, they were brought back together when they both lose someone they hold close to their hearts. This is another book I could not put down. I was in love with their love story. Many love stories have been written and many are very similar, however, this one is one for the books. I highly recommend that the book is read before the anyone watches the movie.

4. Dee Henderson, "Danger in the Shadows"

"Danger in the Shadows" is a thriller/love story. This book is about a woman who was kidnapped when she was 11 years old. She grows up in fear of it ever happening again. She has never found someone to love her until an unlikely situation occurred. She met someone she didn’t know would end up being the love of her life. This book keeps you guessing, you never know what is going to come next. It goes from happy to sad in a matter of sentences and so forth.

5. Ellen Hopkins, "Burned"

"Burned" follows about five teenagers, a mix of boys and girls. Each one of these teenagers are dealing with something that most 14-16 year olds typically would not have to deal with. The book goes back and forth between all the teens. I enjoyed this book because it gave insight to what some young adults and teens have to deal with. The kind of lives that they have to live. As well as how blessed many of us are to live the amazing lives that we do.

I hope you all have a chance to read one of these books!! Happy reading all!!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
