It's officially summer, thank god! And likewise, New England is known for its beaches- and for a good reason! So if you're anything like me, that means you'll be living at the beach when you aren't at work!

We New Englanders love our beach days, especially after our New England winters. So, that means we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, with miles and miles of sand, salt, sun and a side of Iggy's Clam Shack, all summer long. Now it's your turn to be the judge, explore New England and see if you agree with me: here are the top five best beaches in New England. Happy sunbathing!

1. Mohegan Bluffs, Block Island, RI

"Sail away on the Block Island Ferry!" and enjoy the surrounding coastline with a drink in your hand! With its famous stairs and beautiful water, this beach is hands-down one of the best in New England. And if you've never been? Put it at the top of your list of beaches to visit this summer. It's a day trip or even a weekend trip for sure, but it'll be one to remember! And you won't be sorry that you went, I promise.

2. Sachuest Beach (2nd Beach), Newport, RI

Though it is in one of the most expensive places to visit, this beach offers miles of sand, trails and summer adventures. It can definitely get crowded on those hot summer days, but there's so much to do there and at nearby downtown to make this beach a must visit this summer.

3. Old Orchard Beach, Old Orchard Beach, ME

Not only is there a boardwalk and a small amusement park steps from the beach, but the beach itself is miles and miles of beautiful sand and clear blue water. Like many beaches, it can get pretty busy, seeing as it is a common place for both locals and vacationers, but it is worth the trip.

4. Scarborough Beach, Narragansett, RI

A local favorite. Not only is this beach in a prime location, but with its clear water and beautiful sandy beach, no wonder why it's always packed. So it's best to get there early. And bring your camera, because not only is this beach huge, but it's beautiful and there's plenty of prime photo spots to make any Instagram feed summer ready!

5. Crane's Beach, Ipswich, MA

It was voted Boston's best three years running, and with its four miles of soft, white sand, and a warm surrounding coastline perfect for swimming, it attracts beach goers from miles around. This beach is open year-round, so there is plenty of things to do to keep yourself busy. It's definitely a summer must.

Life is better at the beach.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
