The US has many destinations for a solid vacation. I managed to pick 10 cities that stick out and have the best activities. A new city to visit can be so refreshing. If you have been to any of these places, I am immediately envious of your experiences.
1. San Diego
San Diego is the eighth largest city in America. The warm climate is something everyone can become accustomed to. Some of the draws of the city for me are the beaches, the San Diego Zoo, and the USS Midway Museum. I never had an interest in traveling to California, but San Diego is the lone exception.
2. San Antonio
San Antonio seems to be a fun-filled place. The Riverwalk and the Alamo are definitely on my bucket list. I'd even go to take in a Spurs game during the winter. San Antonio has much to offer and is a big tourist destination in Texas.
3. Houston
Houston is one of the fastest growing communities in America. Houston is the fourth largest city in America. I have heard excellent things about the Space Center in Houston. In addition to great sports teams, there is plenty to do in Houston, Texas.
4. Kansas City
Kansas City is the exemplary mid-American city. The appeal to me is the city's sports. Kauffman Stadium is one of the best ballparks in the major leagues. The Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium is arguably the best in the NFL. The fans made Arrowhead the loudest stadium in the world in 2014.
5. St. Louis
Despite my proximity to St. Louis, Missouri, I have never been. As a baseball fan, I would love to watch a Cardinals game in Busch Stadium. The Gateway Arch must be a sight to see, and I have been dying to see it one day.
6. The Twin Cities
The Twin Cities perfectly personify the Midwest. I have been before, but going back would be such a thrill. The Mall of America is well worth the trip. Watching a Twins game would be a fun time. I have heard a lot about the "Minnesota/Midwest nice" culture and it is very true. Everyone is incredibly friendly in Minnesota and that is a part of the appeal.
7. New Orleans
Whenever I hear about New Orleans, two things come up: Mardi Gras and the food. It is all a part of the rich culture of New Orleans. I was in New Orleans once when I was 13, but I did not appreciate the city as much as I should have. I did not try any new foods, and the city seemed weird to me. Going back to New Orleans would be worth it, so I could fully embrace the city.
8. Boston
I would be lying if I said "The Departed" did not influence me to want to travel to Boston. But there is much more to Boston than what is depicted in movies and television. The city is rich in history. Old North Church, the Freedom Trail, and Paul Revere's house should be on the bucket list of every single history nerd such as myself.
9. Philadelphia
Philadelphia is another city rich in American history. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell have both been on my bucket list since my earliest history classes. Plus, who wouldn't want to go outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art and throw their arms up as Rocky did in 1976?
10. Washington D.C.
I have been to Washington D.C. several times. But, they say that you cannot see everything in D.C. in one trip, which is the absolute truth. Each time I left D.C. I thought of attractions I did not get to see. Washington will always be on my bucket list no matter the number of times I visit.
These 10 American cities bring a lot to the table in terms of tourism and attractions. I hope to check these off my bucket list in the future and create wonderful memories. Even if I have been to some of these cities, there are always new things to try wherever you are.
