Every decade comes with its own unique set of music and genres. For those of us born in the mid-to-late 1990s, we were blessed with some amazing music to grow up listening to in the 2000s. Here are just some of the many songs you probably can still sing along to this day.
1. "Beautiful Soul" by Jesse McCartney, 2004
You may not have heard this one in a long time but you could probably still sing it with just as much enthusiasm. That long blonde hair "swooshed" to the side had all of swooning back in the day.
2. "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani, 2005
Not only is this song super catchy, but Gwen's repetition of the spelling of "bananas" helped us never get it wrong on spelling tests.
3. "Year 3000" by Jonas Brothers, 2006
Everyone's favorite trio of the 2000s started out with a bit of an unconventional hit song but it was still well loved. While the trio has since pursued their own individual careers, these brothers made some great music that still gives us nostalgia to this day.
4. "What Dreams Are Made Of" by Hillary Duff (a.k.a. Lizzie McGuire), 2003
Ending the Lizzie McGuire era with a movie was the best way to end it, and a dream come true to feature an amazing song at the end of the movie. It featured Hilary as "Lizzie" and her brunette doppelgänger "Isabella" singing this empowering ballad after embarrassing the bad guy, Paolo, after he tried to ruin Isabella's career. It can't get any better than that.
5. "Umbrella" by Rihanna, 2007
After this, we never walked in the rain with an umbrella without singing this song a little in our head.
6. "Bye Bye Bye" by NSYNC, 2000
This one by NSYNC, featuring Justin Timberlake with curly hair, said "Bye Bye Bye" to the 1990s and that "ain't no lie."
7. "Fergalicious" by Fergie, 2006
If you are ever having a bad day and not feeling confident about yourself, sing the lyrics to this song. While she is singing about herself, it can help you feel "Fergalicious" too.
8. "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce, 2003
While trying out her solo career apart from Destiny's Child, Beyonce made us "Crazy In Love" with her with this song. It even featured her then-boyfriend and now-husband, Jay-Z.
9. "Hot In Herre" by Nelly, 2002
This probably was not the most appropriate song to be singing as a kid, but we all knew it regardless. We probably sang and danced to it more times than we can count, both back then and today.
