If you haven't been keeping up with the news lately, then I'm sure you're unaware that two of the greatest men on the face of the planet will shortly be in the same town at the same time on the same date.
I am, of course, talking about Bernie Sanders and Pope Francis.
Sanders, recently invited, is preparing to take a short break from campaigning to travel to Rome in order to deliver a speech at the Vatican. While the invitation was not given by Francis, himself, and their meeting has not been confirmed, many fans of the two are hopeful that they will meet during Sanders' visit.
Pope Francis, famously known as both a tolerant and accepting Pope seems to have found a close political match in Bernie Sanders. They are both fiercely against inequality between the wealthy and the poor and are very outspoken about the need to redefine the "more more more" attitude that many have.
However, while Bernie fans were incredibly pleased with the announcement of the visit, hoping that his speech would award him not only the Catholic vote but the vote of Pope Francis' fans, those from the Clinton campaign were not so happy.
Shockingly, Clinton's representatives took to Twitter to bash Sanders, retweeting articles that highlighted their displeasure with Sanders' visit and insisting that Sanders' had invited himself to deliver a speech even though both Clinton and Sanders not only represent the same political party, but are also coworkers in the US Senate.
However, the rumor that Sanders' had invited himself was dashed when a senior papal official came forward to announce that it was the academy at Rome's idea, and not Sanders'.
In response, Sanders only had good things to say, praising both the Pope and Clinton. He stressed that his visit was about "raising consciousness" rather than gaining votes and that he deeply respects Clinton as both a fellow Senate member and a competitor.
