With the last few primaries quickly approaching, presidential candidates have been making their last stops. Not only do I fully support Bernie Sander's campaign into the future of politics. But I also think he justifies for the younger generation. Politics has always been about the split of the 1 percent and the 99 percent, but with the way Bernie Sanders has taken the stage, he has advocated for what a Democracy should look like.
With the Obama administration coming to an end, if we chose someone like Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump as President, it would basically be downgrading. There is no better way than to go into usher into a new presidential chapter if it was not with Bernie Sanders. But he's a democratic socialist, you say. Yes, but we need to stop associating what we have been taught about socialism with Bernie's political ideology. If we wanted to touch those terms, I could say that Hilary Clinton is basically a republican dressed into a democratic agenda. She is being controlled by big corporations and profiting from them. A presidential campaign should not be built around the profit that the candidate receives for their own gain. We can look into Bernie Sanders own campaign in which he asked each of his supporters to donate with an average of $34 he was able to raise $5.2 million during the first 18 hours.
Bernie Sanders is a visionary for the government because he supports many aspects that are affecting everyday Americans. He wants to allow free college by cutting college costs which would simply raise taxes for the benefits of the next generations. In a highly competitive global economy, we need the best-educated workforce in the world. It is insane and counter-productive to the best interests of our country and our future, that hundreds of thousands of bright young people cannot afford to go to college, and that millions of others leave school with a mountain of debt that burdens them for decades. Many countries across the world have tested the theory of making college free and it worked for them. The United States is a much bigger country with more power to sustain that plan.
One of the most impactful campaigns he has carried out is working to get justice for racial inequality. There are pictures of Bernie Sanders when he was much younger getting arrested during protests to help the African American community. He has been there from the start and seen all the mistreatment and how little the government has helped them. Advocates for BlackLivesMatter movement are standing by his side. They want Bernie to represent them. Also he wants to change the immigration reform policies so that undocumented immigrants can have a chance to get the life they have prospered for in the United States. Bernie is with everyone, he wants to help and will do everything he can so it will happen.
There are many more policies Bernie Sanders is advocating for such as increasing minimum wage, women's reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, fixing the war of drugs, and focus efforts on a sustainable environment. With each of these issues Bernie Sanders is our leader.
But he is not the type of leader to just think of himself and his own gain, but instead of the gain that it will bring to the American people. Bernie Sanders has started a political revolution and it's time for our country to follow the change. And come on he has the bands Vampire Weekend and Run the Jewels on his side. How much cooler can Bernie Sanders get.
So go exercise your right to vote and impact that change you want for the country. Your voice matters, your participation matters, and, most importantly, your vote matters. #feelthebern
