Feline the Bern?

4 Reasons Bernie Sanders And Cats Are Similar
Reddit

Are you Feline the Bern? Senator Bernie Sanders is taking the presidential race head on with the support of mostly millennials while cats are something else that seem to be a trend among millennials. People have described both Bernie Sanders and cats as honest, funny, enthusiastic, interesting, caring, passionate, and trustworthy. Hmm, you be the judge -- did I just describe a cat or a 74 year old man wanting to change the country? Here are four things Bernie does that reminded me of my kitty companion.

1. The Time He Summoned A Bird With His Charm

I'm sure you've all seen the viral video of the Bernie Sanders rally in Portland, Oregon where a bird fearlessly flew up to Bernie's podium after he called upon it. Just like a cat does while hunting, Bernie used his charm to get the bird exactly where he wanted. Thankfully unlike a cat, Bernie let the bird serve as a political statement instead of lunch.

2. They're Protective

Since he was in college, Bernie has been fighting for everyone under the sun; whether you're black, white, male, female, Muslim, gay, straight or an animal. Bernie is always fighting to protect you just like your household cat thinks they're fighting to protect you. Cats have been known to warn their owners of burglars, detect carbon monoxide danger, killing dangerous animals, and even keeping abandon babies warm. Oh and I can't forget that they meow nonstop for help when they think the evil water maker, or shower, is killing you. Although, cats aren't fighting for our rights like Bernie, they show they care about humans in a similar way.

3. They're Social Media Sensations

My news feed on Twitter and Facebook are filled with Bernie and cat pictures daily. I would even go as far to say that Bernie wouldn't be where he is in the election if it weren't for social media. Cats have also been on the social media rise because of their goofy actions being posted by their humans. Funny cat videos, gifs, and memes are even being used for good in a campaign to stop smoking. For both Bernie and cats, social media can be beneficial. How can you scroll past a cute fluffy face with out retweeting it? By the way, I was talking about the cat's face not Bernie's.

4. Neither Are Donald Trump

Can I get an amen? Neither cats or Bernie want to build a wall or punish women for getting an abortion. Cats would just climb over the wall anyways, I dare you to try and stop them. Bernie and cats both seem to have a passion for spreading love but aren't afraid to get a little feisty when needed. Trump on the other hand can be a little too feisty all the time. So unless Sir McFluff announces his campaign for presidency soon, I think I'll stick to voting Bernie.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
