College life can be busy and stressful. It might be hard to find the perfect time to work out, but you should definitely try.
Here are the top 5 benefits of working out in college.
1. You will be happier!
You feel about 10x better about yourself, whenever you workout. You have a giant smile on your face and the harder you sweat the better. I recommend yoga because usually, the exercise involves some sort of meditation that helps you to de-stress from your week or whatever might be going on in your life. It is so calming and peaceful that everything that you have been worried about seems to fade away. Also, when you have a class you can't cancel, because of the cost, so great motivation to not bail.
2. You will eat better
This I know is true. Whenever I work out, I tend to eat healthier because you don't want to waste all your hard work. Ask yourself: Would you eat a giant cake after running 3 miles? No!! You don't want to do that after you just burned all those calories.
3. Start Small
No matter how your workout is or for how long. You will be proud, because you had the choice to not workout and you turned it down. Just getting yourself to the gym is half the battle. Once you are there, you will push yourself however hard you can and be happy with yourself when you leave.
4. Your body thanks you
Your body both mentally AND physically feels better and trust me you can tell. You will be sore if you are just getting into it, but it will fade and once the soreness fades you know you are getting fit. Keep going!!
5. Will Power
When you are constantly working on your body and fitness goals, it is way easier to resist that 2 a.m. pizza that your friend ordered. When you got tempted by foods pre-working out, you had nothing to lose. However, when you start living a healthy lifestyle it feels less like resisting and more like just eating what makes you feel good. And trust me greasy pizza is not going to sit well and will just make you feel crappy. Your stomach will not thank you.
