People love to talk about the disadvantages of having no friends: being lonely, being viewed as an outcast, etc. I'm here to reassure you that having little to no social has its perks! And they most definitely outweigh the cons.
1.) You don't have to worry about "important" dates
Do you have trouble remembering birthdays? Anniversaries? Jenna's championship volleyball tournament? You no longer have to struggle to recollect certain dates that are important to others but not to you! Just worry about your own dates that you plan for YOU.
"Hey, what's your passcode for your phone?"
"It's my birthday."
*sweats vigorously*
2.) You save money
You know the term "holiday stress" where you spend weeks and weeks on end contemplating on what gifts to buy for your loved ones for the most wonderful time of the year? THAT'S NO LONGER YOUR PROBLEM. And this ties back into birthdays and anniversaries as well! Why waste your precious money giving back to others when you can buy 8 bags of marshmallows and binge watch Love Actually?
3.) No plans
You know that sigh of relief you get when your friends cancel plans? Well, you can get that same satisfaction all the time because no one is making plans with you! Instead of having to wait for your plans to not follow through, or getting anxiety over coming up with a believable excuse on why you can't go out that night, you can finally relax your mind by yourself all the time because no one will be texting or calling you asking to hang out!
"Hey, uh, I can't go out on Friday. I'm going to be sick that day."
4.) No comparisons
Jenna won her volleyball tournament. Mark got into Stanford. Eliza landed a well-paid internship for her major. Brandon is going to France for his job. Guess what? You don't have to compare your mediocre life to your successful friends' lives anymore! No need to scroll through Facebook, glance at your friends' accomplishments and adventures and half-heartedly comment "Congrats! So proud of you!" or "Wow, that's amazing" on their social media posts!
"Wow...Dylan is landed a role in a new HBO series...I'm blocking him."
5.) YOU DO YOU
People think you're a friendless loser. So what? If my squad only consists of me, myself, and I, that's GREAT. I'M FINE. I have all this time to myself to do my nails, finish (aka: start) my novel, start dieting, binge spend my money on takeout, binge watch Netflix, binge eat 3 pints of ice cream, binge self-deprecation, and so much more! You have the ability to do you all the time. So stop wasting your time with others and start focusing on your own life!
