You learn many things while living on your own in the world. For instance being anxious and scared your freshman year of college is true. Along with having to live by yourself in a house is overwhelming as well. When wanting to experience new things in your life, I highly recommend getting out on your own. As a person, you grow and start to learn more about yourself each and every day. You strive to reach and see things that you never thought you could do but get accomplished. It makes you a stronger person and ready for anything that comes at you. Not to mention it is very overwhelming and frightening, but you will survive. There might be a lot of crying, fear, and anxiety, but it is totally worth it in the end.

1. You have your own space

Giphy

This is the best because you have that whole bathroom to yourself. We know that feeling, heck yeah! Your own personal space without having someone else barging in or bagging on that door while you're on the toilet. LOL

2. You understand that change is necessary

Giphy

Staying with your parents for the rest of your life is probably not a good thing. You look like you don't have your shit together and you're just living the dream underneath your parents' roof. Changing is hard, but is also so GREAT! You feel alive and actually get to do what you want with your life.

3. You take responsibility with your decisions

Giphy

Having the responsibilities of waking up every morning and getting that job interview on time is all on you. Mommy isn't going to wake you up. Knowing that you have to clean, take a shower, study, sleep, and work is all on your plate. You have to make times for them.

4. You realize what you want in life

Giphy

This is a great thing to realize in your life because the next few years all depends on you and what you make it to be. You have the opportunity to grow and think about what you really want in life. Having your freedom is very important.

5. You step out of your comfort zone

Giphy

When you first step out into a new city, school, or job everything is scary. You have no idea what you are doing or getting yourself into. But it provides you with this self-esteem that makes you stronger each day. You realized that all those times that you thought you couldn't accomplish it you actually did. While knowing the fact that you stuck with it and did it made you stronger.

6. No more rules

Giphy

Living with parents, this is the number one rule - no staying out late. Well, they are probably right, lol. We learn as we are by ourselves what is the best time for everything. Having to stay up studying or going out on a Friday night is all on us.

7. You start to learn how to budget your money

Giphy

This is hard. Knowing the fact that you literally have to make a budget is stressful. You have to count every penny you spend because things happen and you never know what might happen.

8. You get alone time

Giphy

This happens to everyone and is something we all struggle with at first. Until we find what we love and those long time friends. Being alone sucks, but it makes you find out who you really are and how to grow up.

9. Learn how to clean

Giphy

This is a struggle when you have depended on your mom for so long cleaning up after you. For example, leaving your cup or plate on the table.

10. You start to learn how to take care of yourself

Giphy

While having the safe feeling at home, being alone in your dorm/house is scary. This provides you to stay alert when being alone and to check your surrounding when going places.

11. You eat by yourself

Giphy

Not having the same lunch buddies at school sucks. This is gonna happen to all of us. You will eat alone, but it is really not that bad.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
