Listen up dairy-haters:
Ben & Jerry's has recently announced that they have created a new line of their famously unique and delicious ice cream in non-dairy pints.
The new Ben & Jerry's non-dairy ice cream is certified vegan and made with almond milk so that people can eat it and not experience the negative effects that come from eating regular dairy ice cream.
If you are a vegan or dairy doesn't sit well with you, this is a holy-cow big deal.
The non-dairy flavors include Chocolate Fudge Brownie, P.B. & Cookies, Chunky Monkey and Coffee Carmel Fudge. Each flavor is made with almond milk to ensure a creamy texture while also including the famous chunky mix-in's such as cookies, brownie pieces and fudge. The research and development process for the non-dairy line took about three years.
Not only are the flavors dairy-free, but they are also certified vegan through Vegan Action (http://vegan.org). Vegan Action is an organization that works on vegan certification, education and labeling. You can rest assured that none of the ingredients in the new non-dairy ice cream contain any traces of animal products.
You don't have to be vegan to choose a non-dairy pint of Ben & Jerry's. Because the base of the ice cream is almond milk instead of regular milk, the ice cream is naturally a little bit healthier. Now you can eat more ice cream in one sitting to reward yourself for making the healthier choice.
The ice cream is not only dairy-free and certified vegan, but it is also made from Fair-trade and non-GMO ingredients. This stuff is pretty much made from angels.
The company claims that the development of a non-dairy ice cream is the result of high customer demand. With 16 million people in the United States now identifying as vegan, the non-dairy ice cream market has been left virtually empty.
Don't flock to the grocery store yet; distribution is said to slowly roll out in grocery stores in the next four to six weeks.
While four to six weeks may seem like forever, I think we can all wait that long for a product that took three years to make. The company is claiming that the ice cream will still have a creamy texture and huge chunky add-ins.
Eat up, dairy haters, we have been waiting for this.
