I am a believer. I believe in good food, good company and good choices. I believe this article could potentially be offensive, but please believe me when I say, I don’t intend it to be so.
One thing I believe, above all else, is religion is personal. The crucial word in that sentence is I, not you. Religion fascinates me. I truly admire those who believe in it with unwavering faith. A lot of the time I would give anything to have that faith in God, in anything really, but I don’t. This is how I am and who I am. Some could even say this is how God made me. I don’t struggle with believing there is a God, but rather God being the justification for all acts in the world. The God I believe in doesn’t make terrorist attacks and natural disasters happen. Instead, I believe God will do His best to bring those affected by the free will of others some sort of peace or aide. Like I choose to believe in the best of people, I choose to believe in the best of God.
Choices. I make good choices and commit good deeds because I believe it is the right thing to do, not by God, but by others. I believe in enhancing the quality of life and helping those in need not because Jesus died for our sins but because every person needs a little help sometimes and every person deserves to feel love. God is great, and God is good, but if God were the only reason I was being a “good” person, I would never be sure if I was doing it to be in his good graces or because I truly want to help others.
Although some may not respect this perspective of mine, I respect theirs. I’ve come to terms with the fact I will never truly understand anyone, especially when it comes to a concept as complex as religion. Nonetheless, that does not mean I do not love and accept those who I do not understand. With that, I will take my good food, good company good choices and appreciate the great life I was given.
