This is my experience with Kylie Cosmetics.

I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to celebrity makeup products; I know the makeup I do and don’t like and typically won’t try new brands or products. But after seeing enough on Twitter, Buzzfeed, and Facebook about Kylie Jenner’s lip kits, I determined it was worth trying out, at least just once.

After looking on her Twitter, Instagram, and website (thorough research is important) I learned that her products sell out incredibly quickly and certain colors are almost impossible to obtain. What’s worse, for the most part unless you have her app, you’ll almost always miss out on the sale. At this point, I was pretty committed to getting a lip kit, so I got a one-month subscription to the app and committed myself to getting one of her metallic kits.

I determined I would buy a metallic kit as I was most curious on the liquid lipstick itself rather than the full kit, which is what the metals offer. Also, they’re much cheaper. When the time came, I was able to purchase Reign, a ruddy copper kit. As I purchased Reign other colors went out of stock. The whole process took less than 15 minutes and in 30 minutes every color was sold out. Definitely, the most stress I’ve ever dealt with when buying a lipstick.

Because I’m currently abroad, shipping took a little longer than it would in the US. However, when it came, customs had messed with it and my package came empty. I immediately reached out to customer services in hopes they could either refund me or send me a new one. They responded after three days and told me they would send me another. The second package came much quicker than the first and actually had my product in it this time.

When trying on the product I noticed the color was much prettier than I had hoped for. Ruddy copper doesn’t do it much justice. The best description I could come up with is that it is a metallic mix between wine and maroon with copper undertones. It’s definitely a color that goes well with black and is easily dressed up.

The product itself was also great. I put it on early in the day to see how long I could get it to last and it lasted for hours. At one point I ate lunch and it was still on. The product did slowly come off, however, it was very graceful and didn’t come off in chunks. The consistency of the product isn’t particularly heavy and isn’t waxy like many lipsticks are.

While I won’t order another kit while I’m abroad, I will definitely order more when I get back to the US. I’m very impressed with the pigment and overall longevity of the product. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Definitely. I would recommend this product to anyone who asks.
