Being Confident!

  • Being confident is not always simple. There are days where we feel down, and there are also times where we feel overwhelmed in happiness. In my experience, staying confident is something that is based on many other factors in your life.
  • Why is being confident important?
  • Confidence mostly affects your decision making capabilities and emotional state: A high confidence level will cause you to be more joyful, while low confidence will lessen your happiness.

Here are some tips I follow and hope they will be helpful to you:

1. Eliminate negative people from your life:

Yes, it sounds difficult, but you should not allow negative people to obstruct your way of living. However, reacting to negative people in your life and helping them see a different perspective of life would really impact their way of living. Guiding your friends and family towards a more positive way of thinking and living could really make them see how being negative could really affect their behavior.

2. Don’t stick to your comfort zone: be willing to move around:

We tend to feel that we are doing well by keeping to our same routine, but the charm eventually fades away as the days pass. We become less passionate and lose the excitement that we once had at the start of our basic routine. Therefore, always move on: try to do something new and get out of your comfort zone. Variety will make all the tasks and work more exciting.

3. Compliment others:

This is a simple way to help others while improving your people skills. By giving compliments we let others feel good about themselves which boosts their confidence.

4. Do something about your body:

It doesn’t matter how much exercise or how many tasks you have accomplished throughout your everyday. It is most important to apply conscious effort towards healthy living (i.e. exercise and dieting) that will directly impact how you feel about yourself.

5. Develop the brain:

We have to feed knowledge to our brain continuously. Knowledge is responsible for creative thinking and imagination. It improves your communication skills, problem solving skills and reasoning skills. The richer the knowledge base is, the smoother the cognitive process. So overall, conscious learning will improve the quality and speed of thinking.

6.Try to help someone every day:

Try helping others, not for the sake of your own pride and selfish desires. Try to simply show affection and only follow the principle which is: "love your neighbor as you love yourself." Eventually, by doing something nice for someone else will make us feel better about ourselves.

I hope these tips help boost your confidence. Let’s start working on it!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
