I've been known by a lot of nicknames and titles throughout my life, but by far my favorite one is Aunt Dani.

I now have three crazy, adorable and oh so loving nephews that I love with all my heart. Julian is four, Alden will be two and Brycen is just about a week old now. Each of them has their own little piece of my heart and every time I get to spend time with them, that part grows bigger and bigger.

I fall more in love with each of them whether they hit a huge milestone such as smiling, walking, talking or something as simple as hearing them giggle. I swear, their laughs are the best sounds in the world.

From the very first hospital visit with each of them, I knew that I was in trouble. All I could think of was the list of things we could do together as they got older. I pictured us going fishing, playing on the beach, watching movies, playing sports and maybe one day teaching them to drive or watching them in their cap and gowns.

I was 15 when Julian was born and I love that I became an aunt at a younger age than most. I'll be closer to his age than his parents and other aunts/uncles so I'm hoping that I'll be the one he comes to for advice as he gets older- but only time will tell if this actually happens.

As Julian and Alden have grown, we have begun to do some more adventurous activities than before. I try and help make memories with them that they'll look back on when they're older. I'm also the type of person to never stop taking pictures with them and our selfie collection is pretty impressive.

The best part is, I get to hand them back over to my sisters when we're finished without activities! I don't have the 24/7 commitment of my own kid quite yet, but I'll take a loner kid for the day and hang out with my nephews anytime! I love them like they're my own, but I definitely don't mind the fact that they aren't.

I'm lucky enough to be Alden's godmother as well as aunt, so our bond means something special to me as well. My role is to guide him through life the best I can and help him find clarity in some tough situations. For now, his toughest situation is sharing his spotlight with little Bryce and I think we can help him through that one!

As far as little Bryce goes, I'm now thankfully well versed with babies thanks to the other two. So I'm not afraid to change his diapers, calm him when he's crying or do any of the "dirty work" that some would shy away from. I can't wait to see the little man continue to grow and I'm looking forward to taking all three of them on adventures with me!

I love being an aunt and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Although it's tough to get in enough visits with them all, I cherish the time I do get to spend with them. I know that one day, my kids will have some pretty amazing cousins to look after them one day too which is comforting. But until then, my nephews will continue to rule my heart.

I love you all, my little nuggets, to the moon and back.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."
