What it is Like Being a Twin
Twins and BFF

Every time someone finds out that I have a twin sister, they are amazed. I get tons of questions every single day such as, "What's it like?" "Do you guys look alike?" "Do you guys share a room"?, etc. Yes being a twin has its ups and downs. I will be getting down to the basics so that people who always wanted to find out about what it is like can enjoy the experience. Also, if you are a twin, I know that you will be able to relate to this as well. Here are the 3 biggest things twins can relate to!

1. You Have to Share a Birthday Party

Have you ever as a kid dreamed of having your own birthday party? A sweet sixteen, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or even just a celebration all to yourself? Well, if you are a twin, TOO BAD! You have to share that with your twin. Even if you have a completely different friendship cirlce or social life, you still have to share that party with your twin. To be honest, it isn't fair at all. I don't get my own birthday party, I don't get to blow candles out by myself, heck I don't even get a birthday cake that states: "Happy Birthday Staci". NO! I have to share all of that with my twin. On the bright side, the friends we share and even the ones we don't all come together to celebrate our birthdays. Even if we have to blow the candles out together, receive identical presents, and celebrate together, it is still our birthday. It is still our birthday and we get to share it surrounded by the people who love us. Although, it still would be nice to experience a party that is all about me. Maybe when we move out of our parents house, we can do our parties separately.

2. You are Always Asked, "Who's Older?"

My sister thinks that just because she is older than me by one minute, she has to treat me like a child. Excuse me, we were both formed at the same exact time. 2 different embryos formed AT THE SAME TIME! Being pulled out of the mom by C Section 1 MINUTE before me does not declare you are older than me. Technically, we are the exact same age. "Older" twins like to think that they are the big sibling even though that is clearly not the case. We are twins. We are the SAME AGE. I'm pretty sure all twins have fought about who's older even though it makes no difference what so ever. So in conclusion, not one of us is older than another. We are the exact same age. Thank you.

3. You Shared Clothes

A perk about being a twin is getting to share clothes. When we were younger, we were the exact same size. Which meant that we got to get a whole bunch of clothes and not argue over who's shirt was who's. As children, our mom used to dress us in very similar outfits. She bought the same things for each of us because we wore the same size. We wore the same shirt, dress, pants, and underwear size as kids. However, as we got older, that began to change. We were not the same bra size. We shared the same clothes up until we started college. Our bodies are different. Just because were twins dosen't mean we are the same height and weight. I am two inches taller than my twin. We are not the same weight. I used to be a shirt size bigger than my sister until I started watching what I was eating. I lost 2 shirt sizes and now I am the same shirt size as my mother (a size smaller than my sister). However, we are the same pants size so that is what we still share.

Have you got the picture yet, being a twin is fun and all but sometimes, we prefer to do our own things. We don't partake in the same activities. Twins have different interests. Being a twin is certainly not easy. It has it's ups and downs. However, I love my twin sister unconditionally and we share that exact same love! Try stepping into my shoes one day to see what being a twin is like. I promise it will be fun.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
