Confessions Of A Theatre Nerd
Theatre nerds

Being a theatre nerd is awesome because I have been one since I was in elementary. Almost everyday, us theatre people can breakout into show tunes such as musical theatre where ever we go! Some of these places are school, work, out with friends, in the car and etc. Sometimes I can quote a song and non-theatre nerds might not understand what we are saying but that is fine with me. If you ask a non-theatre person to name that song from a show it will take them a few minutes but people like me will be answering in about minute or less. Theatre people are the friendliest, fun and outgoing friends and are fun to be around. I enjoying being part of the theatre world because it is awesome. I have met so many people from different community theatres throughout the years from young to old. Being a theatre nerd is so much fun because you get to go see plays at community theatres or ones that are on tour that come to your city which is fun to go and see. I have seen so many shows over the years and I save the ticket stubs and the programs of the ones I have been in to the ones I have seen. It is always great to support all theatres out there!! There are many things to do when you are in the theatre world like being part behind the scenes, in front of the curtain, up in the light booth, ushering and many more. Here are some of the top things theatre people know that are true and great:

1. Theatre is a big family that cares about you that share a common interest like you.

2. When you are in theatre you can see as many shows and also get one free ticket to the season of shows that community theatre has lined up for.

3. Lights are an aspect of theatre that makes the actors look good on the stage with different aspects of colors.

4. Going to the stage door when a famous broadway show goes on tour to see if the actors come out and greet the audience members come and see their shows.

5. On a community/ high school/ college theatre level it is nice having friends and family come and see your shows that you are in because they all support in what you do in your spare time or on the side from school.

There are many more things that are part of being a theatre nerd but these are the top five that I could think of! Being part of the theatre world is awesome and I enjoy every part of it! If you ever get a chance to perform in any type of theatre you should so you can have the experience as well. I had some great directors over the years and I have taken their direction very well in the aspects of blocking and etc.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
