Expressing how thankful you are.

Being Thankful

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving, a holiday set aside for being thankful for what you have and for spending time with your family. Now that the last piece of pie has been eaten and the turkey is all gone, thanksgiving has been pushed back into your brain, only to be brought back out next November. I know this because it is exactly what I do. However, we should take time to be thankful all our blessings each and everyday. Their is so much to be thankful for.

1. Family

I have an incredible family. My Mom and Dad are my rocks. They are always there for me no matter how crazy I get. They are supportive, loving, and caring. I have two wonderful siblings, an older brother and a younger sister. My brother is always there to answer my questions about school and life, and my sister is always their to give fashion advice and do my hair when I do not want to. They are the best. I also have a great extended family.

2. Friends

I am so so thankful for my sweet friends. They are so wonderful. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right group of friends, but once you find them, you know. I love that my friends are always up for an adventure. They keep me accountable and push me to be the best person I can be. They make me laugh a ton, but they are also their to have serious and challenging discussions with. I am so thankful that I have them to go through college with. I would be lost without them.

3. OBU

I am so thankful that I get the opportunity to go to OBU. It has definitely become my home. The people here are the best. I know I am getting a great education and making memories that will last a lifetime.

4. Growing up in Oklahoma

Over Thanksgiving break I got to go to the Carrie Underwood. It was amazing. Anyways, she spoke for a moment about how she was thankful that she got to grow up in Oklahoma. I am too. It is a very special place with some amazing people. Those Oklahoma skies are pretty incredible too.

5. My relationship with Jesus Christ

Without Jesus, nothing else matters to me. He is my strength. My main purpose in life is to live for him and share the news of Jesus with others. I am so thankful that I get to have an open relationship with him each and everyday.

I want to take a minute to challenge you, as well as myself. I am going to try to express how thankful I am and I hope you will too. Take a moment to tell someone what they mean to you and that you are thankful for them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
