Things to be Thankful for even after thanksgiving

While thanksgiving may be over there is still so much to be thankful for. We should all take a moment and look back on our thanksgiving break and be thankful, today, for the break and all that came along with it.

Be grateful for:

  1. The time quality time spent with family.
  2. Family traditions, no matter how goofy or lame they may be.
  3. The family that you did not get to see, and the memories you share.
  4. Your parents, it is easy to take all that your parents do for you.
  5. Your friends from home.
  6. Your friends from school.
  7. Time away from your roommates.
  8. The time spent away from school. While you may have had to still do work during break, be thankful for the time you got to spend not sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture.
  9. The change of scenery. Be grateful that you got to get off campus, even if it was only for a little bit.
  10. The extra sleep.
  11. The comfort of your own bed.
  12. The extra cuddles with your pets.
  13. Time to do the things you are always too busy to do while you are at school.
  14. Not having to do your own laundry.
  15. Not having to eat dining hall food or forage for food.

Just because you may be back at school, jumping off the walls, waiting until Christmas break to come, being thankful for the small taste of home you had will help you make it through. While you are reflecting on the past you should also be thankful for the present.

Be grateful for:

  1. The opportunity to go to school and the ability to study what you want.
  2. The opportunities that come from gaining a higher education and all the knowledge passed down from your professors.
  3. Your friends from school and all the other cool people and connections you’ve made along the way.
  4. The independence and freedom, the ability to take control of your life.
  5. The coffee that keeps you alert enough to learn more and function like a normal human being.

Being thankful is not limited to that one Thursday in November and for that I am grateful.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
