Being a Successful Single Girl

We are twenty, thrilling, and thriving

I may have just turned 20 years old, but from my few short months of being in my 20s I have learned a few things. With learning a few things, I have realized that being single and in your 20s might be a blessing in disguise...

1. No one to tell what you are doing.

That's right, you don't need to let the boyfriend know that you will be home late tonight cause you are grabbing dinner with your girls, or that you needed to stop at the mall to get in some retail therapy after a long day at work. Well, I take this back... If you still live at home you have your parents to check in with, but hey they know you are in college realistically they are happy you are safe.

2. Don't let them play.

He played you once, and that is why you are most likely single now, so don't let the random text from him play you. You are a strong independent woman!!! You don't need him and take the advice that my friends gave me...you saw his name on your phone..open the message and delete it. Let's face it, he did it to you....

3. You are one sophisticated little lady.

Here we are in our college summers, the summers where we are finding out who we really are as a person and our careers are building so you better work! Girls we can do this, we don't need a mice piece of arm candy that is tall dark and handsome...we need something that starts with Louis and ends with Vuitton. These are our summers to make a mark in our various fields as killer interns and we don't need a guy to be there to reiterate to us that we are doing a great job.

4. Everything you do is for yourself.

Yep, I said it..you don't do anything for anyone other than you...we say "treat yo self" well treat yo self everyday. Every day is your day...no need to worry about money cause you are only spending it on yourself so really it's like leisurely spending and to me that sounds pretty damn good.

5. Find yourself.

I know it is cliche, but I think everyone needs to do it.. like I said, these college summers are for us and they should be focused on us. We are finding the careers of our dreams and having the time of our lives. It can't get much better than that. We get to wear real professional clothes and walk into a job we might be doing for the rest of our lives all before the age of 24. In my eyes I think that is the coolest thing ever. Our parents didn't get to do that, so instead of worrying about the man of your dreams, find the career of your dreams, the outfit that makes you look hot, and you spend a lot of money on yourself cause you deserve it.

I know this article might be a little cliche, but I think we all forget about where we are in our lives and what we really need to be focusing on. Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at what we have really appreciate the people who have walked in and out of our lives because they got us to where we are right now. So to the boy that broke your heart, or most of all comes back when you least expect it...kick em to the curb and remember to treat yo self.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.
