7 Perks To Being Single That Everyone Always Forgets About

Single.

Some people hate being single and some people love it. I used to be one of those people that hated it and sometimes I still am. Generally, though I actually don't mind it.

Being single in college is a whole different game. Sometimes it feels like everyone around you is in a relationship and it sucks. Not to mention when you see any family that seems like its the first thing that they ask.

I think that's the worst part about being single is the fact that your family continues to ask and it adds to the feeling that you'll never find someone. BUT being single isn't actually all that bad even if people act like its the end of the world.

But think about it like this, you're still young and you have your whole life left to live. That's a lot of time to find the right one and not settle. Go out there and enjoy your single life.

This is why it's okay to be single:

1. More "you" time.

"You" time is something I take for granted at times. Take advantage of this as much as possible. This time to do everything that you love while learning how to enjoy your own company is so important. It's okay to be selfish because this is the only time you'll really get to do that.

2. Learn to love yourself.

This is the best time to learn to love yourself. Loving yourself is a journey so why not start now. You have more time to learn about yourself and learn to love all the little things about yourself.

3. You're busy.

Maybe you don't have time right now for a relationship and that's completely okay. It wouldn't be fair to you or your partner if you couldn't put enough effort in your relationship. Life can get in the way pretty easily especially when you're in college so its okay to put school first.

4. Commitments are scary.

No matter what it is, commitments are no joke. You don't see all the effort people put into relationships on social media because it's wrapped up in a cute photo or two.

5. Learn to fully take care of yourself.

Being single forces you to learn skills that help you grow. Don't know how to cook? No need for a significant other to teach you, go and learn how just pick up a cookbook.

6. You get your whole bed to yourself.

Yeah, it's cool to have someone to cuddle with and all BUT having your bed to yourself is amazing. You have all the room and don't have to share it with anyone.

7. Enjoy life.

Like I said at the beginning, sometimes it sucks being single but go out and enjoy it. Go explore new places. Find new things to do. Go out there and live your life and have fun. And if all else fails at least you have Netflix.

It's okay to be single. Take advantage of it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
