With every social media outlet taken over by pictures and statuses of friends hanging out at the beach or some cool destination, you know spring break is in full swing. Everyone seems to be having the time of their lives with no worries whatsoever, but if you're like me this spring break, you're looking at these pictures bedridden and sick.
Yes, ladies and gentleman, the flu did get to me. However, I'm looking at it through a more positive light and I keep reminding myself that at least I'm sick at home and not in college ... am I right?
Anyone will tell you that being sick in college is one of the worst things that can happen to you as a college student. Your independence and sanity are definitely put to the test, especially when it comes to:
Resting
Being at home in your comfy bed and with your loyal dog vs. attempting to nap on a twin-sized bed with your roommates continuously pressuring you to man up and go out.
Medication
Having your mom there to diagnose you and remind you of when to take your medication vs. assuming aspirin will do the trick and cure whatever it is that you're feeling.
Responsibilities
Worrying about whether or not you should just finish an entire season of your favorite show on Netflix vs. dealing with unsympathetic professors that demand a doctor's note.
TLC
Knowing your mom won't judge you if you complain and require a little love and care vs. your roommates questioning your masculinity.
Prognosis
Knowing you'll eventually get better vs. going out and knowing you'll wake up feeling like crap (I mean ... you have to tell yourself these things while you're watching your friends have a killer time).
So if you're like me, sitting in bed sick wishing you were at the beach partying it up with your friends ... think about all of the issues associated with being sick in college, and you'll probably be a little more thankful that you just so happened to get sick at home.
