We've all been there. You're home sick from school and there's nothing you can about it. In high school, when you would get sick you would ask your mom to call in your absence and just like that you were safely excused from all your classes.
It's different in college. I've heard stories of people going to a rehearsal sick with mono or have gone to lecture with strep and it's actually the worst possible decision anyone could make. Not only do you risk yourself getting more sick, but you contribute to the spreading of germs and disease that medicine has been trying to eradicate for centuries.
I've now been sick for three and a half weeks. It started off with strep and I was fortunate to get antibiotics right away and ten days later I felt better... but I wasn't 100 percent healthy. I didn't really know why, but I still had a runny nose and a bit of a sore throat.
Three days later it's determined that I have a cold. Almost immediately, my immune system, as weak as it was, could not fight off another infection. I had been healthy for a year and now I'm plagued with sickness for almost a month. It's quite miraculous, but definitely not in a good way.
In college, when you get sick, your mom can't call you in sick. She can't sit with you at home and make you tea. She can't give you blankets and keep you warm. You're on your own.
You have to email your professors. You have to find notes from people you barely know. You have to work your butt off in your studies so you don't fall behind from missing all of class. It's hard, but you have to work harder than ever to get back on your feet.
Lots of rest. Lots of liquids. Lots of warmth. You'll get better, soon.
