What is Religion?

What is Religion? Why do people become what we call, religious? Religion is defined as having beliefs and practicing on a spiritual experience. Something that has a higher power to make you feel at peace. This is only a definition though, have you ever read many of the histories how religion came to be and why? Well, let me tell you.

In ancient times, religion was indistinguishable from what is known as mythology in the present day and consisted of regular rituals based on a belief in supernatural entities, according to Joshua J. Marks, a writer, and scholar.

Roman Religion begins with animism and developed as they came into contact with other cultures. To these Romans, gods had created everything according to their will and maintained the universe in the best way, stated Marks.

Now, because of this occurring, eventually different cultures started forming their own religion with many rules that you either had to follow or just believe in. There are many reasons why religion might exist today. One might say that it is created to progress peace and harmony. People need something to hold on to, something to grab on when they need a lift. They have this urge to pray and seek for advice by someone so powerful. Who do they turn to? God. Why? Because as growing up, we are told that GOD is real and he will help you in any circumstances. With the bible being created decades ago and having versus that are relatable to our world that also tells us stories.

Another reason may be to unify the diverse people. It is said that hunter-gatherer groups were more or less egalitarian. As small groups, they were equally homogenous. When our hunter-gatherer ancestors developed agriculture, they became more stationary. There was a great diversity amongst these tribes who may have had little contact with others. So, a religion that comes all with it, can unify a group.

There are multiple reasons why religion is existing and why others pursue it. Everyone has their own belief, some may be extremely religious, others may not. Many cultures have their own bibles of which there are plenty of common versus in those bibles. But, does it ever occur why one bible may say that God is Jesus, but another bible doesn’t. It has its own God, Jesus is not their God. Now, I am not saying there is something wrong with this, it just kind of makes me curious, but then again it is also because not a lot of people are Christians and Catholics. We have Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Atheism, etc. When it comes to Religion and God, there is more to understand that concept that ties religion came to be and how other cultures adapted to this norm.

In my opinion, I am not a religious person, I consider myself as a spiritual. Although I am not a Christian either, my religion is Hinduism. I was always taught to pray every day and have this faith in God and to give God a chance to help me in life. But, I guess considering me, I am the type of person who doesn’t really believe in something that was written decades ago and supposedly, we have that evidence now. I don’t have anything against the ones who are religious because everyone has their own belief. Before I end this off, my question that I have always got asked and frustrated was, “If there is no Heaven, then there is no Hell,” and “If there is evil, then there is no good?”

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
