Being A Page Admin Changed My Life
Metal and the Geek

When you hear the word “Facebook," what comes to mind? You probably think of status updates or trending news, or you may sigh as you think about the cringe-worthy post you saw this week. That’s definitely one thing that comes to my mind, but I also think about my fan page.

I want to be perfectly clear. Yes. I am a huge geek. Proud of it. I am so obsessed with a video game that I had to create a fan page for a character that I am more obsessed with. I will be honest though, I really didn’t do it for myself

The game Life is Strangeis essentially about a teenage girl named Max, who moves back to her hometown in the fictional Arcadia Bay, Oregon. After reuniting with her childhood best friend, Chloe, the two go on a mission to find a girl who went missing. Oh yeah, and there’s time travel involved. It’s pretty sweet. I will try not to spoil the game too much, because I really recommend you play this game yourself.

The character I am fixated with is called Kate Marsh. She is one of Max’s classmates and she faces a lot of difficulty. Since Life is Strange is a choice-based game, you can choose to help her, or you could choose not to (but why would you? Look at that face!!)

The difficulties that Kate faces really struck home for me. This is because I have struggled with very similar issues. It made me realize that a lot of people who were playing this may be just as affected. Truthfully, I always thought of fandoms in a negative light. There have been some shows or books that were utterly ruined for me because I was yelled at by a fellow fan for having a different opinion. I didn’t want my page to be like that and I have been successful.

The rules I set were just the foundation. The page’s success comes from the overwhelming support I have gotten from everyone involved. The people who like the page, comment regularly on posts, and attend live streams...they are the ones who are keeping the page going. I have met so many people from around the world, and gained lifelong best friends. One of whom co-admins with me! People find the support they need, and this has made all of the hard work really worth it.

Long story short, if you are really passionate about a book or a video game or anything...I

highly recommend making your own page for it. You really never know what can come from it!

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
