Now I am pretty sure we have all heard in one part or another of the infamous Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer by the Mister Mark Twain, I mean who hasn't read or seen the various movie adaptions. Those boys in a sense are the epitome of every young country boy who love getting their clothes dirty and making their mother's pull out their hair aka my brother. Like my brother sometimes, they discard the many rules that society tries to enforce and choose to create their own set of moral codes exhibiting pure individuality. I think we can all learn from Huck's story because he is was not afraid to embrace himself and did not let anyone tell him how to live, he understand the rules that Widow Douglas taught him but continued to live his way. That can be viewed as arrogance, but his character represents that people have to break away from society and choose individual independence instead of succumbing to societies rules that are not always correct and just. Society has become too influential allowing no room for others to live with individuality and the question I have is who gave them the permission to do so? Who told them that they could tell people how live and what is acceptable? We should try to see the world like Huck does, he views the world in a very concrete way leaving him to be unpersuaded from the abstract hypocritical views of society. He constantly rebelled from the civilized society thus creating a path for himself with no abstract perspectives having influencing him and leaving him with no voice; society can be so suffocating with all its unwanted opinions and narcissism that it leaves people wanting to just avoid any of its difficulties. Even though society is a true pain, we should still be able to accept ourselves and move forward with un-abtracted eyes like Huckleberry Finn.
