Being a fit girl in a skinny girl world is like being an apple in a world full of bananas.
When I say fit, I mean muscular, built, or physically stronger than average. Being fit is not the same as being chubby or being 'big boned'. Being a fit girl in a skinny girl world is something people don't really think about. Being a fit girl in a skinny girl world has it's pros and it's cons, both of which people are quick to judge.
One look at the picture above may have some people feeling motivated, raising eyebrows, and it may leave a sour taste with others. But feel free to keep your negative opinions to yourself!
Fit girls are strong. Fit girls have dedication. Fit girls have motivation and determination.
We are different than other girls, and we're different in a lot of ways.
We might not be able to fit into normal clothes or the latest fashion in Forever 21. But that doesn't make us lesser women for it. We might not be able to wear regular jeans, but we can still clean up nice.
One of the ways we're different is the fact that when we go to the gym, we actually work. We work hard. Harder than most. We don't simply call walking on the treadmill a workout. We lift weights, we pump iron, and we kill ourselves every time we're in the gym. If people could see how hard we work for our bodies, they wouldn't be so quick to judge.
People sometimes only see us as an object, and they see if as subjects to their opinion. Being fit does not make me less of a woman. Having muscles does not make me less girly than any other girls. Just because I work my butt off at the gym, doesn't mean I don't clean up nice outside of the gym.
"Oh, look at her legs. They're way too big for my taste" or "She's too muscular for me". I hear those things at least several times a week. About myself, or about other fit girls. Everyone is subject to their own way of thinking, but it is never right to push those opinions on someone else.
Fit girls are always looking to better themselves and I've never met one who won't help someone better themselves too.
We're humble, passionate, and we're the best motivators you'll ever meet!
Let's break the stereotype of fit girls being less of a woman for having muscles.
