Being a film studies major is more than just having a job making movies, it's a platform to help change the world. Many people in today's society and generation are heavily influenced by A-list celebrities and the movies that they star in.

Within this past decade, we have seen movies break the stereotypes in today’s society and address actual issues happening in the world around us. One of the most recent movies to break stereotypes and address modern day issues was "Moonlight."

This film not only received the attention of just the United States but global attention as well for it talked about issues that were relevant to more than just one social class, race, religion and issues that were happening in more than just one country.

The film presents three stages in the life of the main character. It explores the difficulties he faces with his sexuality and identity, including the physical and emotional abuse he endures growing up.

The issues presented in this film are relevant in today’s society but haven’t been paying attention to as much as they should have been.

"Moonlight" is just one of the many movies to come out that deals with relevant issues and topics people are too afraid to speak out on.

Creating movies are a way to communicate in a universal language we all can understand.

Movies are something that is shown all over the world, yes they come in all different language so they can be audible to everyone.

However, that's the only thing that changes in the movies, everything else is the same.

You are watching the same thing as the person across the globe is watching. Movies are a form of art that can speak to people using more than just words, but through actions, costumes were worn, where the movies are taking place, etc... It's more than just a bunch of rich actors on your screen reciting lines they memorized.

If you find a director that truly appreciates their craft you will see and feel the story that is taking place right before your eyes.

As a film studies major, I feel I have a duty to create movies that have relevant meaning to them.

The platform big box office movies have is truly mind-boggling. If you had the opportunity to positively impact at least one person through your movies, wouldn’t you want to do that?

Even if you can’t completely change the world through one movie you never know who's world is completely changing by watching just one of your movies.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
