"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you." "What did they say?" It feels like I say these phrases a hundred times a day, much to the frustration of my fellow students, teachers and family. Over the past couple of years, I have been losing my hearing after battling ear troubles all my life. This has lead to many revelations about being Deaf in a hearing world. It's a struggle daily to not only understand people, but to be understood. Many people can hear, and can't understand NOT having that. This leads to deaf people getting pushed to the side.
For example, recently I went to Disney World. I had a wonderful time, but I did notice only 2 rides of the many I rode had closed captions so deaf people could understand what was being said. This got me thinking about the other things I've noticed about being deaf.
