Being Comfortable In Your Own Skin

This worlds view of perfection has construed the truth.

In this day and age, "being comfortable in your own skin" is not something many girls and guys are familiar with. We are all shown pictures and diet plans of how we "should" look, and often we think now what can I either do or buy that will make me feel like that? So lets say that we go to the store we pick out a brand new juicer or new makeup, we start this whole new "Healthy" or "Beauty" routine that is great the first few days, but then we start realizing "I still do not feel good enough or look as good as that person in the magazine."

One of my favorite YouTube videos to watch is "Nouvea Parfum." Check it out! This video speaks so much truth into all the work that is done to get those already perfect people into this ideal "actual perfect" body according to this world's standards of perfection. Now, I am not someone saying, "Well I have come to this realization, and I have decided to embrace how I am." I would be a huge hypocrite to say that. I have been through an eating disorder and every day, I continually struggle with my image. Now I know there a lot of people saying and I am sure you have heard it before, "No, you look good just the way you are." We as people take this and say thank you, but does that change how we look at ourselves. Absolutely not. Below I have a picture of me over the past three years. I have gone from weighing 112 to 145 and everywhere in between. I have either been very unhealthy with eating too little or too much.

I am here as a sister in Christ to offer words of encouragement. I first would like to say I am sorry for the way the world has made you feel. This world is rough, but man does it contain so much of Gods beauty in it and you are a part of that. We were all created differently for a reason. I hate how this world makes us all think otherwise. I have recently been taking my walks to and from class a little bit slower and really reflecting on the surroundings that God has put before me. I encourage you to do this. Take time to just slow down, and look at the different faces around you. Followers of Christ, these are your brothers and sisters! I encourage those who are quick to judge humble yourself for those thoughts were not Gods thoughts when He was creating that person.

Those of you who are judging your own self, the thoughts you are having are those of the enemy! Do not believe them! You are a part of Gods majesty! You were wonderfully and beautifully made. Does that not excite you? God took you each individually in His own hands and intricately designed you for the person you are. It is time that we look to our Heavenly Father for His love is greater than any approval this world will give you.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
